Sameen Ahmadnia Officially Launches Campaign for Culver City Unified School District School Board

September 3, 2024

Culver City, CA — Last night, Sameen Ahmadnia, an accomplished immigration attorney and dedicated parent, officially launched her campaign for the Culver City Unified School District School Board. Sameen is running to champion access, wellness, and achievement for all students across Culver City. With a vision for full inclusion, equitable modernization of facilities, and enhanced resources for multilingual students, Sameen is poised to make a significant impact on the future of Culver City schools and students.

The campaign launch event took place at Jackson Market in Culver City, and was emceed by Mr. Justin Richmond, producer and co-host of the music podcast Broken Record. Mr. Richmond highlighted Sameen’s commitment to equity and justice for all students. With over 100 community members in a strong show of support, the environment was filled with energy and hope.

Culver City Council Member Mr. Freddy Puza was among the notable speakers at the event. He praised Sameen’s vision and dedication, stating, I’m very excited to support and endorse Sameen. The number one thing that stuck out to me in speaking with Sameen was that she is [running] for the kids – that she cares about the kids and the students. She is focused on dealing with the root causes of issues rather than the symptoms that accompany issues.” He later stated, “Our school board doesn’t always agree on everything, but one thing they did agree on unanimously is their support and endorsement of Sameen.”

All five current members of the CCUSD School Board have endorsed Sameen’s candidacy and were present at the launch, including Dr. Kelly Kent, Mr. Triston Ezidore, Ms. Stephanie Loredo, Mr. Brian Guerrero, and Ms. Paula Amezola. Their presence and endorsements underscore Sameen’s readiness to collaborate effectively with the Board and her community.

Mr. Brian Guerrero, School Board Treasurer, praised Sameen, stating “I am proud to support and endorse Sameen because she brings voices that currently aren’t part of the board… One of the most exciting things about Sameen is that she has ideas – she’s not afraid to fight for those ideas and she’s not afraid to stand up for those ideas. I’m excited that Sameen comes to this without an agenda, without an ego – she just wants what’s best for the students, our schools, and our communities.”  School Board President Dr. Kelly Kent shared her support for Sameen by stating “Sameen believes in volunteerism and pro bono services – these are the qualities we need on the school board.” School Board member Ms. Paula Amezola spoke in Spanish, with nearly half of the attendees being Spanish speakers, underscoring Sameen’s commitment to the multilingual learner community. School Board Vice President Mr. Triston Ezidore expressed his support for Sameen by stating “We are all excited to elect Sameen to the Culver City School board – there’s only one person that can get me out on Labor Day because I really believe in her vision and voice. Sameen is running to protect the basic rights of equity in education. We need to make sure we are doing the work as a team to elect Sameen to be the next School Board member.”

With her background as an immigration attorney, Sameen brings a unique perspective to the challenges facing CCUSD. She understands the importance of creating inclusive educational environments that respect and uplift students from all backgrounds. Her campaign is focused on ensuring that every student in the district has the resources and support they need to thrive.

“I am running for Culver City School Board to champion access, wellness, and achievement for all students,” Sameen said. “I am committed to addressing the challenges our students face head-on, to ensure that they receive the resources, respect, and opportunities they deserve.”

The energy at the campaign launch was palpable, with community members, educators, and local leaders rallying behind Sameen’s vision for a better future for Culver City students.
